Modern Apprenticeship Programme
Our three-year Modern Apprenticeship Programme leads to an NVQ Level 3 certification in aeronautical engineering and provides practical training with pay.
First-year, off-the-job training takes place at our dedicated training facility and develops trainees practical skills.
In second and third years, trainees rotate around various operational areas to develop skills and knowledge required to successfully integrate into the company on completion of the apprenticeship.
Day-release to a local college of further education plays a key role in the programme.
While working towards their NVQ qualifications, apprentices also get the opportunity to participate in additional training which includes Health and Safety, environmental awareness and essential skill programmes including IT-related courses.
How do I qualify?
Craft trainees must have at least two GCSE passes at minimum grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language.
Technical engineer trainees are required to have at least four GCSE passes at minimum grade C (or equivalent) in Maths, English and two further subjects, one of which must be Physics or Double Award Science.
All apprentices join the programme on the same basis. During the first year, there is a selection process to select technical trainees based on performance and qualifications.

You need to be prepared to demonstrate good background knowledge of Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast and our apprenticeship programme. Personal qualities such as motivation and initiative, as well as awareness of Health and Safety issues will help you ensure a successful outcome.
Some of the key skills we look for include teamwork, accuracy, competence and good verbal communication skills.
Our next apprentice recrutiment campaign will begin in early 2015. Applicants should be aware that the selection of successful candidates will be made in accordance with the eligibility criteria for the funding of Apprenticeships NI as set out by the Department of Employment and Learning.
